Everyone has someone they look up to -- a person they go to for advice, an individual you admire or idolize.
I have many for various reasons and each pertaining to a different area of my life. When it comes to my psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis, my heroine is mother, dietician and Lupus patient, Laura Rellihan! You may recall my interview with Laura in this prior post.
The main reason I would call Laura my heroine is that we suffer from diseases that are similar, only Lupus is much more serious than my Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis, and Laura seems to be doing all the things I think I cannot. Just hearing about her work, her family and her sports and leisure time inspire me to push myself more. When I am tempted to feel sorry for myself, I hear that Laura is running a road race, creating a delicious new recipe or chasing after her little boy. If Laura is not feeling sorry for herself, I have no business feeling sorry for me!
