I have to admit, a day of rest is this City Girl's favorite pasttime! In fact, if my weekend does not include at least a block of time for "nothing", I won't feel I had a weekend, at all!

Both my husband and I have melancholic temperaments, so we each require a certain amount of down time. Some of that time needs to be solitary. It is how we recharge our batteries. I love to be busy and to have so many fun things to do in the City, but because it is all here, all the time, I do not feel any regret at doing nothing for a whole Saturday or even an entire weekend.
Yesterday, for example, we indulged in binge-watching Season 4 of "Homeland". We ran errands, bought healthy snacks and hunkered down. It was blissful (except for deciding who gets to lie on the sofa)!
On a smaller scale, I like to enjoy some time to myself once a day, usually in the morning before work. This is my prayer time, time to sort out my to-do list for the morning and the day, time for yoga and meditation. About an hour to myself is about all I need to feel centered. I find that if I start my day with a little zen, I stay pretty stress-free throughout the day. This is good for my psoriatic arthritis, which is largely triggered by stress.
