I feel best when I am on track, when I plan ahead and am doing all I can to cooperate with the care I received from my physicians and health coach for my psoriatic arthritis.
This is me, feeling best!
It can be hard for me to keep all the balls in the air. But, I find that when I let one drop or pay less attention to it, the others have a tendency to fall, too. For me to stay centered and feel my best, I need to adeptly juggle (in no particular order):
Anti-Inflammatory Diet -- This is my second toughest ball in the mix. I love my anti-inflammatory diet and the way it makes me feel. I love that I am learning all the time what food my body is intolerant to so I can eliminate or limit them. But, I love all the yucky stuff, too! Sometimes I flirt with these "old flames". I definitely feel best when I don't;
Prayer Life & Meditation -- I love starting my day out with these two. Sometimes, I like sleeping in more. I definitely feel best when I am not rushed and have time to spend in prayer and meditation;
Consistent Physical Activity -- This is my toughest challenge. I love the way I look and feel with consistent physical activity, but am naturally lazy. The best days are when I take time on the elliptical trainer in the gym AND practice yoga. I feel my best when I accomplish both these;
Quality Time with my Husband -- This is one I have a tendency drop other balls for. After all, my husband takes very good care of me and who doesn't love going out for a meal or a movie with their sweetie? I feel best when we make time for one another;
Alone Time for Myself -- The number one reason I will drop all the balls when juggling. I need a certain amount of alone time for myself every day. I will take more any chance I can get. I feel best when I can moderate this and keep everything else in balance;
Proper Skin Care & Maintenance -- I am typically good at this, except for moisturizing after a shower. Many times I tell myself I can skip this to save time. Irritated skin usually results. I feel best when I take proper care of all my skin, not just the skin on my face;
Regular Appointments with Physicians & Health Coach -- If I don't do this, my dear husband will remind me. Do you know he has the date when I am due for a mammogram on HIS calendar?! I feel best when I get my regular check-ups and stay in touch with the pros who take care of me; &
Medications & Dietary Supplements -- There is not a lot for me to say, here. Missing a dose of a med or even a supplement can leave me feeling sluggish or "just not right". I feel best when I am consistent with these.
Without a proper balance of all these things, I find that things do not go well for me, stress ensues and I wind up with a flare and acute illness.
