Monday, August 3, we were challenged to take the Psoriasis Awareness Month Quiz. I scored 7 our of 7. How did you do? If you have not yet taken the quiz, it's not too late!
Tuesday, August 4, we were challenged to See Our Doctor(s). I make it a point to have an annual physical with my primary care physician, annual exam with my dermatologist and have frequent appointments with my rheumatologist at my Remicade infusions. Do you stay in touch with your doctor? Here is a link from the National Psoriasis Foundation to help you locate a physician to help with your psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis.
Wednesday, August 5, we were challenged to Get Moving. Although still limited since foot surgery this past May, I make it a point to walk every day and am easing my way back to the elliptical trainer. I hope to be cleared for gentle Hatha yoga soon! What types of exercise do you use to help control your psoriasis and/or psoriatic arthritis?
Thursday, August 6, we were challenged to Fight Inflammation with an anti-inflammatory diet. I have found this very beneficial since my diagnosis. Honestly, there is no one diet that is best for every patient. Unless we eliminate all potentially inflammatory foods with an elimination diet, then re-introduce them one at a time, we cannot know which foods are bad for us. This takes time and dedication, but is so worth it! I have just started re-introducing foods this week, starting with eggs. We'll see how it goes.
Friday, August 7, we were challenged to Catch Some Zs. Did you know that good sleep hygiene is essential to living with psoriatic disease? It is! Check out these tips for getting more sleep. I usually get at least 7 hours per night, and more when I need it. How much sleep are you getting?
Saturday, August 8, we were challenged to Take a Risk and try something new, like try a new exercise or a new recipe. On Saturday, my risk was trying eggs, again. So far, I do not detect any inflammatory reaction, but have a couple more tries before I know, for sure. What new thing have you tried?
Sunday, August 9, we were challenged to Check In after our first week. That is what I am doing here. Give the NFP a shout out to let them know how you're doing. I'd love to know, too!
